About the event
Additional information from walk leader, David Ferguson:
Start in the “square” at Worsthorne with parking in the square, on the street & on the lower section of Gorple Road. The Bay Horse pub on the square is currently closed so there may be parking in front of the pub.
From the square across a couple of fields to meet the road into Hurstwood village.... once in the village we take the track following the reservoir & thence onto the Gorple Track.
Past Gorple Stones overlooking Upper Gorple Res.
The track then begins to descend to Widdop Res & very soon thereafter we take a left along a track/wall that is a bit wet & uneven underfoot.
The track descends & we will cross a footbridge at the (upstream) head of the reservoir & climb up a track to meet the Widdop to Thursden road.
Heading towards Thursden along this road for a short distance we need to find the path heading off left. The first section is a little indistinct & holds groundwater but nothing to bother about. We follow the paths as shown on the map eventually reaching Upper Swinden Reservoirs.
There is a choice for the final leg.... taking the track that climbs away from the road bend & then crossing a few fields to rejoin the Gorple track & descend to Worsthorne or simply follow the road into the village.
See you on Saturday. Leaving at 10-00am.
