COVID 19 Update for Club Activities

Dear Members,

We hope this finds you all well and unscathed from Covid. Following the latest Government Guidance on further relaxation of Lockdown,  and advice from The British Mountaineering Club and The Ramblers Association UK,  the Committee has held a socially distanced outdoor meeting and agreed we can restart some modified activities safely for the rest of 2020. We do hope they meet with your approval and support.

  • Wednesday Night Summer Walks. These will not proceed this year, and the planned programme will be rolled over for 2021.

  • Monthly Coach Meets. We are all eager to hike together again, but coach travel for leisure is not permissible under current guidance (nor advisable if it was !). We have therefore decided to replace the planned monthly Coach Trips with scheduled " Car Meet " walks. These will be free to all members, with no handling of cash or booking required. Members will be expected to arrange their own safe transport arrangements and to be Covid Conscious when walking and socialising.  All walks will begin at 10am,  be approximately 10-12 miles circular routes with some ascents. See our events for full details, however the locations are as follows: August Austwick, September Barrowford, October Horton in Ribblesdale, November Ashworth Moor, and December Fouridge.

  • Summer Long Distance Walk. This will take place on Sunday 30th August and will be led by Kevin Cronshaw. Route and details to be confirmed, but as usual this will be circa 20/25 miles.

  • Hut Weekends. The reopening of climbers huts is complex and we will follow appropriate guidance,  but deal with each one individually  as they are all different , and circumstances are developing. Payments for hut bookings have been "rolled over" to future huts. Angie Dunne will keep us all informed.

Please watch this space on the website and follow us on Facebook for further updates as the situation unfolds. We look forward to seeing you all in your muddy boots and smiling again soon!

Keep safe.
